Welcome to Looking Glass Pottery Studio! The purpose of our 8-week wheel-throwing classes is to allow new and experienced potters the chance to work in clay under instructor guidance. Each session will offer a slightly different curriculum to keep things fresh for recurring students. Please note that there are some physical requirements with pottery wheels, but no experience in clay required for many of our courses!

Session 3 classes began June 10th with 4 Beginner classes and 1 Intermediate class. Classes wrap up August 3rd.
Session 4 registration is now open! Those classes will run from August 12th thru October 6th.
There are many different ways to work in clay! Our studio is currently offering wheelthrowing classes, which blend technique and art and function for both beginning and returning students. Though some may also be interested in our one-night series, an 8-week class is an opportunity for those who are interested in guided instruction and building upon their skills over time. We see students greatly improve when they have dedicated practice time!

Experience required: Recommended that all students take at least 1-2 Beginner classes before advancing to Intermediate. Intermediate students should feel comfortable consistently centering 2-3lbs of clay or more.

Welcome to the wheel! This course is designed for those with little-to-no experience with wheel-throwing, or those looking to jump back in. In class you will learn how to throw a cylinder, trim your pieces and other basic forms such as:
You'll also learn basic decorating and glazing techniques and come away with pottery that's all your own!

In the intermediate class, you will need some experience in throwing to participate. Be prepared to make bigger, more specific items (though it's all still a learning opportunity!). We recommend 2-3 beginner classes before moving to intermediate, along with feeling confident in making specific forms (and centering roughly 2+ pounds of clay).

Open Studio is a great time for you to come in and work on your pieces outside of your scheduled class time. Come and finish up trimming, practice throwing, or do some glazing & decorating! Open Studio is available to all current students, though wheels are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note: during Open Studio, an attendant will be available to answer basic questions, but is not a substitute for your regular class instructor.
